What is counselling?
Counselling is a therapeutic practice that gives you the time and space to talk through your concerns with a trained professional.

My name is Saffron and I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Southwold, Suffolk. I offer long-term counselling and brief solution-focused therapy. You, the client, are the one who sets the goals and we work together to make positive changes to achieve the desired outcomes.
I have experience in working with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement and loss, confidence and self-esteem, sexuality and grief.
I have experience of providing counselling to primary school-aged children, using play therapy. I am also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist.

Solution-focused
Do you have a goal?
Clients who benefit from solution-focused therapy have a specific goal and a desire to achieve. Solution-focused therapy helps you to achieve that goal by concentrating on where you are or how you are feeling now, where you want to be or how you want to feel in the future, and how to get there.
Bereavement and loss
Bereavement is the experience of losing someone or something important. Grief affects everybody differently and can be difficult. Counselling for bereavement can help you understand the range of emotions you might go through in the grief process.
Feelings of grief can also happen at the end of a relationship, leaving a job, leaving home or moving away.

Anxiety
Anxiety is an extreme form of worry or nervousness. When anxiety affects your everyday life it can be crippling.
Counselling can help to reduce your anxiety by talking it through and rationalising your worries.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a very effective form of psychotherapy for anxiety disorders. CBT focuses on learning specific skills to improve your symptoms and gradually return to the activities you've avoided because of anxiety.
Self-esteem
How you value and perceive yourself is what defines your level of self-esteem. When you have healthy self-esteem, you feel good about yourself and see yourself as deserving the respect of others. When you have low self-esteem, you doubt the value of your opinions, ideas and decisions.
Counselling can help establish why you have low self-esteem and help you to build it up by looking at your positive characteristics and learning to trust yourself.
Sessions
You can choose from face-to-face sessions in my therapy room, online sessions over Zoom or Microsoft Teams, or telephone sessions. All counselling sessions are 50 minutes in duration. Your initial consultation is free and each subsequent session is £45.
